I just realized I never blogged about our coherent hashing paper! So don't miss it if you did not see the talk at SIGGRAPH Asia (which I am unfortunately not attending this year). The paper is here. It will tell you how you can get both efficient storage of sparse data and exploit access coherence at the same time -- something unusual for a spatial hashing scheme.
Also, if you are interested in fast, parallel hashing do not miss the dissertation of Dan Alcantara: A great read for anyone interested in this topic.
